Broadway’s Jersey Boys Will Close In January
- The producers of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning musical Jersey Boys have announced that the Broadway production will end its record-breaking 11-year run on January 15, 2017. Dancing with the Stars champion Mark Ballas will be the final actor to take on the role of Frankie Valli and will continue in the role through the final performance. PBS Arts Fall Festival Features Broadway’s Hamilton
- PBS has announced the broadcast premiere dates for the diverse slate of performing arts specials that will air as part of the 2016 PBS Arts Fall Festival. Among the offerings is Hamilton’s America, which explores the creation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s pop culture Broadway phenomenon Hamilton and the history behind it. The special will include interviews with Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, Nas, Questlove, Stephen Sondheim and more. Hamilton’s America premieres October 21 at 9 PM ET. Original Wicked Cast Recording Goes Vinyl
- The original cast recording of Broadway’s Wicked, which celebrates its 13th anniversary at the Gershwin Theatre October 30, is now available in wide release as a double vinyl LP. Upon its release in 2003, the album became the fastest-selling cast recording in years and went on to dominate the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top Cast Albums Chart for more than six years. The recording features the full cast and orchestra, including original cast members Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. For more info on the new release, click here.
