A Lonely Teenager Looking to Fit In:

Dear Evan Hansen is a new musical that follows one student’s struggle for identity as he becomes involved in the family tragedy of another teen.

From the producers:

All his life Evan Hansen has felt invisible. To his peers, to the girl he loves, sometimes even to his own mother. But that was before he wrote the letter – that led to the incident – that started the lie – that ignited a movement – that inspired a community – and changed Evan’s status from the ultimate outsider into the somebody everyone wants to know. But how long can Evan keep his secret? And at what price?

An Off Broadway Hit Moves Up:

Dear Evan Hansen opened on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre in December 2016, after its world premiere at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC in July 2015 and an Off-Broadway production in March to May 2016. The musical was a recipient of the sought-after Edgerton Foundation New Play Award, and critics have universally called it a spectacular performance that has managed to be something exciting and noteworthy in a time when new musicals have struggled for attention.

The Story of a Song – “Waving Through A Window”:

New York Times:  “[A] gorgeous heartbreaker of a musical…a haunting score, matched by a book of equal sensitivity.”

Time Out New York: “Thrillingly modern and moving…the show takes on challenging subjects with unapologetic trust in the power of contemporary pop music to tell complex stories onstage.”
