On Your Feet! Sets Broadway Closing Date
- On Your Feet!, the Broadway bio-musical based on the lives and music of Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan, will finish up its Broadway run this summer on August 20, in advance of a North American tour and an international premiere, both coming later this year. The musical, which was a strong seller in the initial months of a Broadway run that began in October 2015, has seen weekly grosses slacken notably in more recent weeks. The production will stick around on Broadway through the tourism-fueled weeks of the summer in order to pull in as much Broadway revenue as it can before it shutters. More details here.
Alanis Morissette Announces Jagged Little Pill Musical
- A new musical based on Alanis Morissette’s multi-platinum-selling record Jagged Little Pill will come to the stage next year. The jukebox musical, inspired by the Canadian-American rocker’s Grammy-winning 1995 album, which she co-wrote with Glen Ballard, has been in the works since 2013. Morissette announced that the musical will debut in May 2018 at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass., with screenwriter Diablo Cody (who won an Oscar for Juno) and Tony-winning director Diane Paulus signed on to the production.
