Radio City Christmas Spectacular – A New York City Holiday Tradition

Radio City Christmas Spectacular NYC

A Must-See Attraction for the Holidays

For 88 years, as the cider starts simmering and the sidewalk Santas start jingling, generations of New Yorkers have gathered in the city’s most spectacular venue to experience the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, a one-of-a-kind theatrical confection.

From the Producers

The radiant Radio City Music Hall will be decked out for the season and the Rockettes shine like never before in a breathtaking new finale that transforms the theater into a glistening winter wonderland. The Rockettes modern SNOW choreography combined with crystalline costumes is inspired by the snowflakes swirling over the audience, in a whirling dance of their own. Share in the joy of this one-of-a-kind celebration for family, friends, and loved ones. Every moment is magic!

Spreading Holiday Cheer since 1928

Along with the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and the storefront displays at Macy’s, this iconic song-and-dance extravaganza, featuring the legendary Rockettes, is one of the holiday season’s must-see attractions. It is one of the most-watched live shows in the United States, with over 2 million viewers per year. This year’s show combines such classic scenes as “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” and “New York at Christmas” with new numbers and cutting-edge digital projection and digital mapping technology, which transforms Radio City Music Hall’s interior into a giant canvas.

Bring the Kids

Ideal for audiences of all ages, the Spectacular has become a holiday tradition for generations of families. Morning and afternoon performances allow little ones to enjoy the show when they’re well-rested, and quick-moving scenes of Santa’s workshop, a stuffed animal Nutcracker, and even a 3-D film will keep them riveted. You can’t go wrong with this one.

Critic’s Rating from the New York Times

The updated 90-minute intermission-less show, with its fireworks, falling snow, flying ribbons, film clips and imaginative projections and lighting of everything from Christmas decorations to mid-Manhattan, seems to move at warp speed, while, as always, accompanied by carols, hymns and seasonal songs played by a live orchestra that occasionally rises magically from below the stage.

Audience Review from Fay

This is truly a spectacular show. I went with my son and five year old twin grandchildren. We loved it. The full orchestra plays wonderful music. The Rockettes are precision dancers. The short 3 D movie is fun with the images of Santa’s sleigh, gifts and decorations floating out into the audience. The whole show is absolutely a joy to experience. Can’t recommend it enough for everyone of all ages.
